Pro:Direct

A partnership between St Mary’s College Sixth Form and the Pro:Direct Academy offers a full-time education and football programme for male and female players aged 16-19.

The Pro:Direct Academy has already helped players like Jaden Philogene, who started at his local academy before being signed by Aston Villa. The new programme combines St Mary’s College’s Ofsted-rated ‘Outstanding’ academic support with a professional football development pathway, delivered by UEFA-qualified coaches. This combination ensures that players not only receive top-class football training but also maintain their education, preparing them for both a football career and future academic opportunities.

The programme gives players the chance to represent Pro:Direct’s regional team, competing against top football academies in categories 3 and 4. Exceptional players could even be selected for the Pro:Direct Eleven, a national squad that competes against some of the best academies in world football. Teams the Pro:Direct Eleven have faced include Tottenham Hotspur at Wembley, Arsenal at Hale End, and Manchester City at the Etihad Stadium.

In addition to competitive match opportunities, players will gain access to professional training and personal development, which can include Pro:Direct brand experiences like meeting professional players, taking stadium tours, and visiting training grounds. This holistic approach ensures that participants not only develop on the pitch but also gain valuable experiences that will help them in their careers and personal growth.

One of the key benefits of the programme is the opportunity for players to pursue soccer scholarships in the USA. As interest in U.S. college football continues to grow, players in the programme will gain exposure and the chance to earn scholarships at universities across the U.S., opening exciting opportunities for their futures to play and study abroad.
